Pocketradio.org Show #55 > The Pentatonic Tree
Made from rations of my transported “studio”. Mixed and walked out
over 70+ miles of NYC sidewalk.
A Birthday Tribute to my Dad, who turned 69 today!
Happy Birthday Pops.
Of note >
Jackson Conti – Another Madlib stroke of genius. Loose to the point of falling down. Brazil arrives in a folded envelope.
Gagle – Japan is answering the Stones Throw label with Jazzy Sport and groupings like Gagle (DJ Mitsu The Beats) Eyes peeled on this cat.
Chicago – For all the Phillistines that think they sucked. Love this piece of trading solos. Shows us that these guys had real chops and roots. My dad took me to see them
in the late 70’s. He went straight from work and was wearing a suit. I was embarrassed as the hippy next to me offered him a joint. He was a vodka man and passed with dignity.
Gap Mangione – Chuck’s brother. Go back to both of their first and second LP’s with the Rochester Phil. They were laying down some killer complex horn work and grooves.
J Dilla – History is writing him a big chapter as the days pass.
Enjoy the summer and the sound to go with it.
